Kevin Nisly

email: knisly@intheround.com
phone: 330.430.9096 ext. 19

Kevin Nisly | radius specialist

Kevin Nisly helps prospective and new users navigate through the Radius Web Tools platform to solve their online communications challenges. He’s an “evangelist” of sorts, meeting clients at their place of work, tradeshows, conferences and workshops and sharing the good news about In The Round and our content management system. But when he’s not on the road, he’s our answer to “apple geniuses,” ready to provide exemplary answers to questions via phone or e-mail – a Radius guru, if you will.

Kevin’s background is varied and unique. Occupationally, he’s spent thirteen years in sales for a company that aids school fund-raising efforts. Outside of work, though, he has counseled several non-profit organizations on maximizing their own fund-raising efforts, and is a small business owner himself, making him the perfect guide for a breadth of different clients all wondering how Radius can work for their specific desires.

When not extolling the glories of Radius, Kevin is crazy about spending time with his wife, Carol and their four amazing children. Only slightly less intense is his love for anything with an LCD or LED screen – any new technology that he can fiddle with. Kevin is also a music lover and enjoys listening to his favorite tunes, while also playing drums at the church he attends.

Aaron Winn | creative director

As a creative director and lead visual designer, Aaron spearheads print design services as well as day-to-day management of content creation for web and multimedia. He believes that clever form should never be an excuse for poor function and that effective communication should be a synthesis of both form and function.

Aaron’s varied educational experiences make him a man of many hats, able to function in pastoral ministry, project management and client relations. His passion is helping others get from where they are to where they want (or need) to be. Aaron thrives on solving problems in ways that are both effective and pleasing to all parties involved.

In his spare time, Aaron enjoys any sort of remodeling or construction project, playing piano, bass and guitar, and volunteering with the youth ministry at his church. He loves spending time with his wife, Kelly, and their daughter, Katie, and would someday like to live in Cairo (Egypt) again.

Craig Joseph

email: cjoseph@intheround.com

Craig Joseph | creative director

With a background in English, Theatre and Film, Craig Joseph is - at heart - a storyteller. He brings that love of narrative to In the Round, helping clients better articulate their identities. Whether facilitating conversations between non-profits and supporters, businesses and consumers or artists and patrons, Craig loves the challenge of translating between disparate cultures using the written word and visual image. He draws energy from watching creative light bulbs go on as clients begin to tell their own distinct stories.

Since earning a BA from Wake Forest University (English / Religion) and an MA from Northwestern University (Theatre / Film), Craig has worked in a wide variety of contexts, ranging from churches to non-profits, public schools to universities, theatre companies to art galleries. A broad spectrum of occupational experiences makes him a perfect jack-of-all-trades fit at In the Round.

Outside of the office, Craig is rarely content to sit still. He curates at a local gallery that spearheads unique collaborations between artists and viewers, and maintains an active theatrical career, performing and directing. Evenings find him plowing through a good book, taking in a movie, prepping for a random road trip or attempting to teach his canines, Babs and Monty, outlandish tricks.

David Brown | lead visual designer

A graduate of Kent State University's visual communication design program and ITR’s intern and residency programs, David has already been awarded regional, state, and national accolades for his work. He brings strong natural design skills and creativity to his work on real-world print and web projects for In the Round clients. Additionally, he brings visual flair and ease of usability to many of our user interface projects.

David first delved into visual design during high school when, as the “computer expert” of his family, he designed stationery and other materials for his family’s thriving business. Originally from Columbus, David and his parents moved to Kelleys Island on Lake Erie. While there, David attended Erie Huron Ottawa Vocational Education for graphic design.

David’s eye for design also fuels his love of photography; he has recently completed a project capturing architectural images in Kent buildings. He’s also a shameless tinkerer and – in addition to self-maintenance of his car – is constructing a custom PC / Hackintosh.

Kevin Miller

phone: 330.430.9096 ext. 18

Kevin Miller | Visual Designer

With a decade of high quality website and graphic design experience, Kevin brings a solid grasp of first-rate visual design to the creative offerings of ITR. Because he is constantly looking for more efficient and beneficial ways of accomplishing engaging design, he continually pushes his own methods and understanding into the future and is never content to stop learning. His educational and occupational background in creative fields and non-profits aids Kevin in competently bridging the communication gap between the needs of organizations and those of their intended audiences, bringing the desired results and engagement levels to the forefront. Because of his experience, he has a unique ability to draw out the creative needs of clients, making the design process an enjoyable one.

When he is not pushing pixels around, artistry stays at the forefront of Kevin’s day-to-day activities. He enjoys being surrounded by musical instruments and recording equipment and venturing out to find that next great photographic moment. Along with his wife and son, Kevin draws even more inspiration from nature as he spends time discovering new and exciting places to experience natural beauty.

Tim Wiseman

Tim Wiseman | Visual Designer

With over 15 years in marketing and design, Tim’s had numerous opportunities to strategize and execute successful marketing campaigns. The art of problem-solving and finding new, more efficient ways to communicate with the world is what wakes him up in the morning, and keeps him up at night.

Tim has been married for more than 10 years to his equally creative wife Danielle. More recently, he strives to be a great father to Layla (2) and Olive (born in June 2011), both of whom have captured his heart. In whatever time remains, Tim pursues photography, painting and other fine arts, the culinary arts being one of his favorites. Nathan Boyd joins the ITR staff as our newest visual designer, where he brings panache to websites, print pieces and anything else fortunate enough to land on his desk. Finding and strengthening identities is what enthuses Nathan. Whether it’s helping a client synchronize their Web presence with their off-line identity, developing a logo set for a company or non-profit, or following athletic or corporate branding trends, identifying marks and standards are his passion. Equally as skilled with his left brain, Nathan brings to the team a penchant for managing details and wrangling production schedules.

Joshua Smith | lead applications developer

Beyond his role as lead developer and programmer, Josh is our standards-bearer—responsible for developing, maintaining, and enforcing the standards and best practices for all code and documentation created at ITR. Fortunately for the rest of us, he is a rare IT type who is adept at translating technical jargon into plain English. Although a graduate of Malone College’s mathematics and computer science departments, Josh’s experience extends back to his early years of programming his Atari computer.

Josh is also an accomplished system administrator and, unlike many web developers, possesses both an interest and experience in the mainframe (think super-sized server) world. Prior to joining ITR he was central in updating, integrating, and testing mainframe applications at a fortune 500 company.

When Josh heads home for the day, he insists that he would be most happy to sit at his home computer and program all night. His wife Sunshine manages to get Josh out of the house occasionally to “monkey” around with the inhabitants of the American Primate Educational Sanctuary in Columbus.

Jason Miller

Jason has a breadth of experience as a software consultant with companies and projects of all shapes and sizes throughout the Northeast Ohio area. Additionally, he’s been a small business owner in the technology industry. Focusing mainly on software and web development, he has programmed many database driven multi-tier systems, as well as performed server administration and configuration, project management, web design, and customer support.

In his time outside of work, Jason enjoys every moment with his lovely wife of 7 years and their incredible 4 year old daughter. Additionally, he is very involved in his church, leads a young families’ home Bible study, loves a good laugh with his twin brother, and often spends the late hours of the night in the man-cave working on his latest invention idea or exercising to 'Eye of The Tiger.’

Brad Neeley

Brad Neeley | applications developer

Brad brings his code ninja skills to In The Round as an applications developer, stealthily navigating the ropes of Radius Web Tools. As part of the development team, Brad is key to implementing new features for Radius and getting to the bottom of any bugs that pop up. He also develops custom Web applications for clients.

Brad studied many different fields, ranging from Nursing to Physics to Animation to Computer Science, until settling on Mathematics while attending Brigham Young University. He has worked as a Web Programmer / Developer for BYU, constructing sites from scratch and developing applications to accelerate processes formerly done by hand. There, he honed an insightful approach to web projects, being able to recognize what is most important in the development process and thus completing projects efficiently and expediently, skills he brings with him to In The Round.

Life away from the computer is quite different. He is the father of a beautiful daughter, and his loving wife Marie is expecting another! Brad’s many sports interests find him playing racquetball, ice hockey, golf, bowling and softball. He loves the Great Outdoors, adventuring by hiking, white water rafting, canoeing, and camping.

Jeremiah Dodds

Jeremiah Dodds | applications developer

Jeremiah is a whiz in app development, with a firm grasp of multiple programming languages, as well as a solid understanding of software design principles. He’s skilled at breaking down and identifying the multiple moving parts of a project or problem and then articulating the relationship between these pieces in a final solution. He also arrives at In The Round with experience on varied *nix machines (Linux, Unix, etc.) and a passion for setting up technical infrastructures that run smoothly. Whether writing code or administrating a server, he carefully weighs the pros and cons of every technical decision to ensure systems that are secure and maintainable.

Jeremiah is largely a self-taught techie, and has maintained an avid interest in computing for most of his life. His personal research has led to a rich knowledge base in esoteric areas like artificial intelligence. Previous jobs found him setting up version control systems and server configuration automation infrastructures. Favorite projects include coding for a build-your-own website CMS and a Javascript paint-like application used to design vinyl cutouts.

Outside of work, Jeremiah is a voracious learner, taking courses and seminars whenever possible. He enjoys making music, creating visual art (though not enough) and reading. He also bakes a lot of bread.

Becca Bedell

Becca Bedell | applications developement intern

A senior in the Kent State University Computer Science department, Becca joins the team as a development intern. Following an extensive job search for positions involving new computer languages, she’s ended up working on Radius, which utilizes the PHP language she’s known and loved since the 9th grade. As such, Becca is thrilled to be solving bigger problems than just figuring out why her code doesn’t work.

Her internship is a milestone that follows a long history of self-guided learning, from building a website in 6th grade, to petitioning for an independent study in programming in 9th grade. Never one to let herself become complacent in her work, she is constantly setting higher standards for herself, whether it be learning new languages or developing better ways to work in existing languages.

Though as of late her personal projects have tended more to the side of programming, she has also always been passionate about design, and enjoys spending time working on her portfolio website. When she is not doing that, she loves working out crosswords, practicing her digital photography, and crafting small programming solutions to make day-to-day life simpler.

Joel Love

Joel Love | computer science intern

As a Computer Science intern, Joel Love prepares and configures InThe Round hardware and software to meet the needs of the rest of the team. He is learning to develop automated bug testing for Radius Web Tools and a set of rules to enforce the company’s PHP standards. Though the youngest member of the team, his passion for learning and dedication to projects are huge assets.

Homeschooled through high school, Joel had the opportunity to nurture his budding interest in programming through self-study and online college classes, as well as hone his computer skills through the family business. After graduating in 2010, he now continues his education through the Messiah College Honors Program, pursuing degrees in Mechanical and Computer Engineering.

Outside of school and work, Joel enjoys dancing classical ballet, both professionally and for fun, as well as playing the piano and guitar with other musicians. He serves as treasurer of Messiah College’s chapter of the Red Cross and is active in the Stark County 4-H program. He is happiest while solving challenging problems or serving others.

Josh Winn | lead crestron programmer & systems engineer

As a sound and video systems designer, Josh excels at bringing together powerful and complex technologies in a way that is simple to understand and operate. With many years as an accomplished musician as well as technician, he brings a unique understanding of "both sides of the mic" to the process, and a design philosophy that systems should not only be reliable and user-friendly, but also cost-effective.

Having designed and built multimedia systems for small and large churches, courtrooms, universities and corporate boardrooms, Josh’s favorite projects usually involve computer-automated sound systems (they just work – all the time!) and anything else that makes highly functional technology accessible to everyone. He also enjoys teaching sound and video classes for volunteer techs.

Since graduating from Asbury University, Josh has worked in youth ministry and church planting, fine carpentry and AV design/installation before arriving at In the Round. More recently, he earned his programming certification from the Crestron Technical Institute. When not flying all around the country programming AV control systems, Josh enjoys woodworking, baking, campfires and teaching his kids tidbits of higher math so they can impress people with their “advanced understanding.” His wife, Julia, thinks he’s a real nerd.

Josh Elek

Josh Elek | user interface design resident

Joshua Elek keeps the end-user at the front of his mind. He believes that a simple interface doesn't have to be ugly, and an attractive interface doesn't have to be confusing. Currently in residence at In The Round working toward certification in programming for Crestron Control Systems, he designs multimedia control systems so that when you hit a button, everything does what you think it should.

With an MA in Religion from the University of Chicago and a BA in History from Malone University, Joshua is - at heart - a student of human behavior. Most recently he has worked with the Oriental Institute in Chicago, photographing and archiving ancient cuneiform tablets. He has also been a campus minister and a high-school history teacher. His unique perspective, coupled with his lifelong passion for the arts, drives him toward designing systems that are as intuitive as they are engaging.

When he isn't at work, he is probably wearing a bike helmet and a cape, using a garden rake to freeze bad guys in the driveway with his three-year-old daughter Norah. He also enjoys cooking for his wife Rachel, baking bread, tracing ancient Persian seal impressions, writing stories, drawing pretty pictures on his computer, and translating the Hebrew Bible. And he really—really—wants the Browns to win the Super Bowl.
